Northern Territory Population Projections 2024 Release

The Northern Territory Population Projections 2024 Release provides projections for the whole of Territory’s population over the next 30 years (2020-21 to 2050-51) and the Territory’s regional area population over the next 20 years (2020-21 to 2040-41). The 2024 Release is updated with 2021 Census data and supersedes previous projections released in 2019.

The projections are disaggregated by five-year age cohorts, sex and Aboriginal identity, and provided in five-year time intervals.

The projections are estimates of the future size and characteristics of the Territory population, and have been developed to assist Northern Territory Government agencies, non-government organisations and business in planning service delivery across the Territory.
